Use of single time reference measurements of bus variable in the determination of voltage instability condition of a power system
Abstract
The paper describes a measurement based voltage stability index for monitoring of voltage stability condition of a power system. For this purpose, it is required to measure the voltage and reactive power of a target/selected (bus under investigation) along with the voltages of the other buses connected to the target/selected bus for a single time instant. These measurements and transmission line parameters for the lines connected to the target/selected bus are used to determine the voltage stability index for the target/selected bus. The validity and applicability of the proposed method has been established through simulation on IEEE 30 and IEEE 118 bus system.
