Natural Products: A Prospective Tactic to Unite Nature and Disease

Abstract

The most primitive and effective method from pre-historic time to heal injuries, cure disease and relieve suffering; is treatment with the help of plants extract. Resistance to anti microbial agents has lead to treatment failure and the shift of medical care from orthodox to herbal medicine. Most of the herbal medicines in use await validation of their claimed effects and possibly the development of novel antimicrobial drugs from them. Every part of plant from root to tip has the potential to be used in the production of drugs against many diseases. Phytochemical compounds from extracts of plant roots, bulbs, barks, leaves, stems and others have shown promising potential as drugs, or for serving as lead compounds in the synthesis of new drugs. They are often utilized as traditional medicines in the form of home-made tinctures, teas, or crude extracts. Disadvantages of natural products and traditional medicines include variation in preparation methods and therefore also chemical composition, dosage determination and adjustment, and the suitable route of administration.
