Flowering Plants of Karnataka State Women’s University, Jnanashakti, Torvi Campus, Bijapur and Its Adjoining Area

Abstract


The goal of this study is to provide the existing botanical inventory of the area. A floristic survey was conducted in the month of September 2013 to May 2014 for the record of flowering plant diversity in and around of Karnataka State Women’s University, Jnanashakti, Torvi Campus, Bijapur. The survey represents 257 plant species belonging to 219 genera and 68 families were identified. Of them, the families like Poaceae, Fabaceae, Caesalpiniaceae found dominant in the campus. However, the campus is devoid of trees due to barren rocky/stony wastes land. Moreover, based on present survey recommended that many more number of tree/shrub species must be planted and it should be proper monitoring in future.
