Assessment of Level of Stress amongst the Caregivers of Patients Suffering with Neurosurgical Disorders

Abstract

Caregivers of the patients are subject to different types of stressors when their loved ones are admitted in hospitals. The objective of the current study was to assess the level of stress among the caregivers of the patients suffering with neurosurgical disorders. Using purposive sampling technique, 50 primary caregivers were enrolled in the study. Modified caregiver strain index (CSI) was used to collect the data. Mean age of the subjects was 38.8 (years) ± 12.4. 76% were male. Fifty-four percent had moderate and 34% had low stress as per CSI. The financial domain was the major cause of stress among the caregivers.
