Biography

Dr. A. O. Surendranathan is a Professor in the Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Department of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), which is an Institute of National Importance under an act of the Indian Parliament He received his Ph.D. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Mangalore University in 1994, while working as a Lecturer (Senior Scale) in Karnataka Regional Engineering College, now known as NITK. He is having 36 Years of Experience in the field of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. His Area of Expertise includes: powder metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, corrosion, and nanotechnology He is the recipient of Grants-in-Aids from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Defense Research and Development Organization. He has won the following awards:

Dr. Archana Mallik is an assistant professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Odisha. She received her Ph.D. Degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Odisha 2010 and earned her postdoctoral from University of California, Berkeley, USA. She is having 7 Years of Experience in the field of advanced materials processing. Her Area of Expertise includes: Electroplating, Thin Film Technology, Sono-electroplating and corrosion engineering. She is the author of numerous national and international journals and two books. She has received several awards including Odisha young scientist award and Fulbright fellowship.

Dr. (Ing.) Ranjit Singh Solanki is a Professor as well as a Chief Scientist & Head - Department of Advanced Manufacturing Technology & Design at the University of AcSIR & AMPRI-CSIR, Bhopal. He received his M. Tech. (Hon’s) Degree in Production Technology from Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava. Then he worked at various levels as the Engineer and Scientist (Production, Planning, Welding / Joining, Quality Assurance & Inspection, R&D etc.) with well reputed Industries as well as the Research and Academic Institutions. His works, particularly with M/s Mazagon Dock Ltd., Mumbai (Ministry of Defence) and CSIR has given him rich experience not only in technology innovations but also in handling the management functions and processes in the research environment and industrial conditions, as well. As the Project Leader, he has successfully completed more than 75 Nos. sponsored projects. The project entitled “Development of a Process to Weld Thick ETP Copper” lead to an annual saving of Rs.28=00 Lakhs on regular basis for the user Industry He is a result driven versatile achiever with over 35 years of commendable work experience with focus on the product and process development, sponsored assignments, consultancy, Fabrication, Manufacturing and R&D. He is the co-author of a text book entitled “Welding for Construction Industry”. He has 3 patents to his credit and published 69 papers in the International / National Journals. He has been awarded by the European Union in the memory of Prof. (Ing.) Dr. Tech. ESSA Jozef Chabelka (Dr. Sc.,Dr.h.c.), Welding Technologist for the significant contribution towards the Welding & Fabrication Industries. He is the 2nd. Indian, who has been honored with this award after Dr. Baldev Raj, a well known Nuclear Scientist of India. Also, he has awarded with Medal by the Union Ministry of Irrigation, New Delhi for the development of a new material for the “Quick Repair” of damaged old concrete structures. Additionally, he is recipient of Binani Trust Medal for excellent R&D work in the field of Non-ferrous Metal processing.

Dr. Kantesh Balani is an Associate Professor (since June 2014) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He joined the institute as an Assistant Professor in July 2008. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (specialization in Materials Science) from Florida International University in year 2007 and earned his postdoctoral in Plasma Forming Laboratory and Nanomechanical and Nanotribology Laboratory from Florida International University. He possesses over 10 years of experience in the field of coatings, plasma spraying, ceramic composites, and ultra-high temperature ceramics. His area of expertise includes: Carbon Nanotube reinforced composites, coatings (plasma sprayed, electrophoretic, electrodeposition, and electrostatically deposited). He has procured a funding of over US$900,000 during his last five years of tenure, and his h-index of 16 (total citations exceeding 1100) endorses his research productivity. He has authored three books, has published over 65 peer-reviewed international journal, and is recipient of several awards and honors (notable being IEI Young Engineer Award (2013-14) by The Institution of Engineers (India) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering discipline, 2013 P.K. Kelkar Research Fellowship, 2012 TMS Young Leader Professional Development Award by Materials Processing & Manufacturing Division (of TMS), Materials Science and Engineering C Young Researcher Award 2011 by Elsevier, Young Engineer Award 2010 by Indian National Academy of Engineering, Young Metallurgist Award 2010 from Indian Institute of Metals, Young Scientist Award in Materials Science division by Indian Science Congress Association 2009, R.L. Thakur Memorial Prize 2009 (Indian Ceramics Association), David Merchant International Student Achievement Award 2007). He serves as reviewer of over 25 journals.

Dr. S.A. Hussain joined the Department of Physics, Tripura University (A Central University) as an Assistant Professor in 2004. His major fields of interest are Thin Film and Nanoscience: Organo-clay hybrid, FRET, Biosensor, Biomimetic Surfaces. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow of K.U. Leuven, Belgium during 2007-2008. He has undertaken several research projects funded by DST, CSIR, DAE etc. Dr. Hussain has published more than sixty research papers in international journals and edited two books. He is working as an associate editor of the Journal of Spectroscopy & Dynamics and also editorial board member of five other journals. Dr. Hussain is an Executive Committee member of Physics Academy of North East (PANE), invited member of American Nano Society, General Secretary of Society for Physical Science in Tripura (SPST), Secretary of Tripura University Alumni Association and life member of several other professional societies. Dr. Hussain has already guided four Ph.D. scholars and three M. Phil. students. At present several students are working under his supervision. Dr. Hussain has research collaboration with several groups in India and abroad. He has visited eleven countries in relation to research work and attended several scientific conferences in India and abroad. He earned several recognitions in professional area- few of them are - Jagdish Chandra Bose Award 2008-2009, TSCST, Govt. of Tripura; Young Scientist Research Award by DAE, Govt of India, Bharat Jyoti Award by IIFS, New Delhi, Visiting Scientist by K.
