Paramananda Saikia Currently my laboratory is engaged in a broad research program involving several distinct but highly integrated branches of study. We are interested in identifying post translational modification of interferon stimulated gene product called ISG56 and its role as an antiviral against different viruses including dengue virus. Another major thrust area in my laboratory is to identify medicinal plant product which are ethnically believe to have antiviral and antibacterial activity and finding the mechanism. My previous studies have shown that ISG56, one of the Interferon stimulated Gene product, inhibit Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) DNA replication. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as EMBO J, Journal of Virology, Science Signaling etc. Furthermore, I have serve as a reviewer of scientific journals like PLos One, Virus Genes etc. In recognition to my contribution to science I have awarded the prestigious Ramalingaswami Fellowship of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. Of India in the year 2010. I have more than 2 years of experience in mentoring and training graduate students, research staff.
